ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Tuesday. Hannah Lang, wife of the custodian of the Princess Theatre, attempted suicide this morning,..by cutting her throat. She was removed to the hospital. MASTER MARINER'S TROUBLES. Wellington, Tuesday. John Christian, the master mariner who commanded the Ivotuku when she was wrecked at Greymouth, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with having attempted suicide by taking lysol. It was stated that defendant had recovered as the result of the treatment at the Hospital. His friends were prepared to pay the medical costs, and get him a •vessel. The Magistrate entered a conviction and accused was discharged. STRUCK BY AN ENGINE. Waihi, Tuesday. I James Barraclough, employed on the i Waihi Company's Waikino line, was knocked over the embankment this morning by a down-going engine. The man was just round a bend when the engine appeared. The brakes were applied, but there was no time to prevent a mislhap. Barraclough is suffering from concussion of the spine, but has no bones broken.
