SWIMMING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB.

The annual report of the New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club reads as follows:—"Your committee regrets .(having to report a disastrous season to the club for the 1911-12 season. The main reason for the bad season was the weather, it being the worst swimming weather since the club was started. Only one carnival was held, and that had to be postponed twice before the weather was favourable. The club held the Mile Championship for Mr. J. Smith's cup, which was won by E. Pfankuch for the third time, thereby winning it outright. The club held several races for boys under 21 years, and J. Haldane succeeded in winning Mr. W. J. Williams gold medal for the aggregate points. During the season the club were unfortunate in losing the services of the club captain (Mr. E. Pfankuch) who was transferred to Blenheim. The coming season promises to be favourable to swimmers, so it behoves swimmers to get into condition as it is the only way in which they can expect to compete successfully at sports meetings, and fche greater number of competitors there are the greater the success it makes of a sports meeting." The annual meeting of the club will be held in Messrs. Webster and McKellar's office tills evening.
