LAWN TENNIS.

OPENING NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB'S SEASON. Everything passed off successfully at the opening of the New Plymouth Lawn Tennis and. Croquet Club's season on Saturday afternoon. The weather, which had been threatening in the morning, broke gloriously fine in the afternoon, and the courts were thronged with players and visitors. The grass courts withstood the heavy afteuioon's play very well, and were, indeed, in splendid order. Several players gave promise of good form as tihe season advances. During the afternoon afternoon-tea was served by the ladies. A number of new players were in attendance. All things considered, the Club opens its season with the brightest of prospects.
