A. & P. SHOWS.
MANAWATU. 1j Telegraph—Press Association. Palmeiston North, Last Night. The Manawatn A. & P. Show opened to-day in fair weather. The entries this year are large in all sections. They come from Waikato in the north to Dunedin in the south. Tiie show promises to be by far the most successful on record. There is a fine display of home industries and juvenile ones, and crafts. To-day the judging was almost exclusively confined to those sections. The bulk of the judges' work will be done to-morrow. There is a very large number of side shows on the ground. Rain is falling to-night, but there are prospects of it clearing.
TIMARU. Timaru, Last Night. The Timaru A. & P. Show opened today in good weather with the judging of sheep and some of the horses, Sheep are shown in good numbers, but with little competition in any breeding classes. Farmers' fat lines are in very good condition. This season's lambs are very well grown, suggesting a good season for the freezing works.
