A PATHETIC FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. llawera, Last Night. Jean McCraeken, aged 22, met with an accident while cycling down a hill on Sunday, when she lost control of her machine. Her injuries sustained in the fall were at first not considered serious, but on Tuesday afternoon internal complications supervened, and she died today. A pathetic part of the occurrence is that Miss McCracken was to have been married to-day.

KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. Auckland, Wednesday. The body of a man named Angus Gordon, a seafaring man who was working on the fishing boat Albatross, was found lying across the lines :it the railway goods yards late last night, head was shockingly mutilated and one foot was missing. His clothes were cut to pieces. DROWNED IN A TUB. Ashburton, Wednesday. The fifteen-monthfi-old sou of Fred Gobbe. jun., was drowned through falling into a tub of water this morning. MOTOR ACCIDENT. A serious motor accident occurred on the Nukumara hill on Monday (says the Patea Press). A car driven by Mr. P. Thompson, of Wanganui, and containing fdur other occupants, was descending the hill when Mr. Thompson, in essaying to put on the brake, placed his foot on the accelerator by mistake, with the result that the car dashed off the road and capsized, throwing out the occupants. Besides the driver there were two other Maoris', Mrs. P. Thompson and an uncle, and Messrs. A. McFarlane and S. Edlin. All were more or less injured, Mr. McFarlane sustaining a severe scalp wound and sundry bruises. He was taken to the Wanganui Hospital, where he is progressing very well. Mrs. Thompson was also taken to the hospital to have her injuries attended to, but they were, not of such a nature as to necessitate her remaining in the institution. Mr. Edlin injured an arm through coming in contact with the road fence. The motorcar was considerably knocked about, the cost of repairs probably running into £SO.
