HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. . Wellington, Tuesday. The following is the High Commissioner's report under date October 2G (Note. —Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : Mutton.—There has been no alteration in the market since last week. Canterbury 414 a, North Island 4y.d.
Lamb.—The market is a shade easier. Canterbury 5%d, other than Oanterbruy Beef.—The market is dull There is a large quantity of New Zealand. Hindquarters 3%d, forequarters 2>/ 2 d. Butter.—The market is quiet, but steady. Buyers are cautious. Danish 131s, Siberian 113s, Australian (new season's) 1235, Argentine 1235. Cheese.—The market is dull. Transactions in cheese are very limited. Canadian white 04s, coloured '(Ms. Hemp.—The market remains firm and ie stronger in tone, owing to the business which has been done. Reports from Manila indicate that prices are likely to advance. New Zealand good fair grade £33 10s, fair grade £32 10s, fair current 1 Manila £33 10s for any position. The 1 output from Manila for the week was 13.000 bales.
Cooksfoot Seed.—The market is quiet and shows signs of improvement. Kauri Gum.—The market is steadv, with a moderate demand. Dark brown selected reseraped, 120s to 100s; threequarter scraped, gOs to 955; chips, drossy. 33s to 455; reseraped pale amber, £lO to £l2; three-quarter pale scraped, £7 10s .to £9; diggers' chips, good, 00s to 70s. The stock at the end of September amounted to 424 packages. About 100 packages were offered and only 7 packages sold at auction.
Wool.—The market remains firm. Current quotations for Bradford tops: 36's, low crossbrecls. 12'/ t d; 40's, low crossbreds, Is 3d; 44's, medium crossbreds, Is 4(1; 50's, halfbreds. Is Oy 4 d; sG's, quarterbrcda, Is Oy 4 d; GO's, merinos, 2s 2%d.
DAIRY PRODUCE MARKET. Andrew Clement and Sons, Ltd.. dairy produce salesmen, London, writing under date Sept. 13, to Mr R. N. D. Robertson, agent for Taranaki, report:— BUTTER. There has been a steady demand for finest quality, secondary" descriptions slow and ft dragging sale. Danish market firm, but officially unchanged. Danish: Finest. 1275, - 120s. Australian: The only arrival is the "Shropshire" with 505 boxes, compared with 5.2(12 for the corresponding week, 1011. Victorian, New South Wales and Queensland: Finest stored. 112s, 114s; unsalted, 114s, lids. Irish: Creamery 114s. lids, unsalted lids, factory. 945, lOfis. Siberian: Arrivals this week are "Imp. Alex" 8,088 casks, "W.K.A.M." 3,275, an aggregate of 11,003 against 8,002 for the same week last year. Our Kourgan House cables to-day's market as ruling equal to 108s to 110s London, with spot values, finest 106s, 108s.
