He stood on horseback and put bis arm in the hollow of a limb, where the nest was situated. The horse walked away, leaving Daveny swinging in mid-air. He attempted to cut off his imprisoned arm at the shoulder, but failed. He succeeded in cutting .it off «t the elbow, and then he fell. He ■walked away a few yards, and then lay down and died.
