The Observer publishes some interesting extracts from Li Hung Chang's diary, including his European visit. References to Ceneral Gordon and the Tacping rebellion show his jealousies. He even suggests that General Gordon took a personal part in the treacherous killing of the Wang prisoners. AN AIR ELOPEMENT. New York, October 27.
Arthur Smith eloped with Miss Ccur by aeroplane from Fort Mayne, Indiana. They flew 75 miles, and were then married. They telegraphed to Mrs. Smith's irate parents, who finally forgave them.
