LABOR DAY.

IN NEW PLYMOUTH.

Labor Day passed' very quietly in New Plymouth. Indeed, it is doubtful if many knew of its existence. The day 'was ail ideal spring one for outdoor enjoyment, but beyond the banks and Government offices which closed, the business places all remained open. Some, however, closed for the half-day at noon, and spent the afternoon at golf, tennis or in their gardens. The flag at the Post Office wa« flown in honor of the occasion. Labor Day was observed fairly generally throughout the Dominion yesterday, sports, picnics and the usual holiday functions being the principal attractions in most of the centres. The weather was, apparently, consistently fino, ana the day passed off without accident or i mishap.
