ASHORE AT PATEA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

Advice was received in Wellington today that the South Taranaki Shipping Company's steamer Hawera, of 174 tons, which went ashore near Patea on Saturday morning, is a total wreck. Her "• boiler and engines will be removed, but the hull ie said to be damaged teyoncf repair. Some of her cargo is floating up the Patea river. The steamer Mana left Wellington for Patea to-nisht with salvage gear and workmen.
