ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A SENSATIONAL ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Preea Association. Hamilton, Monday. A sensational accident occurred at a level crossing at Clandelands this morning, when a covered motor the pawtog train from Cambridge. A collision occurred, the motor being carried in front of the train and thrown on the cattle-stops. It was completely smashed!. The occupants, D. L. Smith, a builder, and his Bon Charles, were thrown out. Smith, senior, who was driving, was badly injured about the head, and was severely shaken. His son had a leg badly injured, and it is feared that amputation will be necessary. Details are vague, owing to the injuries of the driver, but it is stated that the train whigtled, but the signal was disregarded. The crossing has been recognised as a very dangerous one, and recently there was an agitation to provide a subway, which is most necessary, owing to the dangerous " of the position.
