A HANDSOME BONUS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., head New Zealand Office, has received cabled advice from London authorising the payment of a bonus of 5 per cent, to the staff, calculated on salaries' paid for the financial year to the end of June last. POLLUTION OF RIVERS. ■ Eltham, Saturday. The Town Council last < night unanimously passed a motion approving of tlie Mayor's action in writing to the local member, requesting him to oppose the passage of the Water Pollution Bill now before the House.
