Received 27, 5.5 p.m. St. Petersburg, October 26. The Czarevitch's condition is hopeful. Many conflicting statements continue to be made. It is alleged that several revolutionaries, by means of false papers, secured enrolment in the crew of the Standart. Captain Chagin suicided because he had assured the Czar that the Standart was absolutely safe. Other statements are that the injury was purely accidental, and that Captain Chagin's suicide arose from a love affair. He bequeathed £SOOO to the girl who attempted to commit suicide on learning of his death.
