The latest story is that the Czarevitch injured himself while climbing the ap&rs of the Imperial yacht Standart. Captain Chagin, feeling himself responsible, committed suicided. Another version Bays that the Czarevitch deliberately shot faimaelf in . the groin. The public are clamoring for a true version. Captain Chagin led the Russian naval force in the Boxer rebellion. The Czarevitch •pent a good night. His temperature is a hundred. The injuries of Chagin's lover are not serious. ANOTHER STORY. i ' * CHAGIN'S SUICIDE. Received 27, 5.5 p.m. St. Petersburg, October 26. The Czarevitch's condition is hopeful. Many conflicting statements continue to be made. It is alleged that several revolutionaries, by means of false papers, secured enrolment in the crew of the Standart. Captain Chagin suicided because he had assured the Czar that the Standart was absolutely safe. Other statements are that the injury was purely accidental, and that Captain Chagin's suicide arose from a love affair. He bequeathed £SOOO to the girl who attempted to commit suicide on learning of his death.
