LAND TAXATION. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright London, October 21. Mr. H. Raphael (Liberal member for South Derbyshire), speaking at Breadsall, said that the reform of land taxation" should not be attempted for party advantage. He advocated a Royal Commission on the subject, and condemned Mr. Lloyd George's committee, which, he said, did not fulfil the requirements of Imperial investigations.
HOME RULE. Received 22, 10.45 p.m. London, October 22. The House of Commons, by 294 to 198, refused to exclude factory legislation from the Irish Parliament. Mr. Balfour recalled Mr. Churchill's proposed septarchy, and asked whether Yorkshire, and Lancashire were to have their own labor laws.
