She lived near Maitland, and several mornings ago met a man with whom she had fall&n violently in love, but who apparently did not return her affection. Returning home crying, she wrote a letter to him i and disappeared. The man did >iot re- * ceive the lett-r till late at night. In consequence of the serious import of the ' contents, the police were communicated I with. . In the letter, which ia affection-1 ntely worded, reference is made to the fact that she was going to "hide herself in the deep waters of the Hunter river." The letter also contained a passage to the effect that she would be found at the spot where she and her lover had first met. The river was dragged, and the girl's body found just below the | place indicated.
