RETIREMENT OF LEADERS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 17. Mr. and Mrs. Pethick Lawrence have quitted the Women's Social and Political Union, owing to differences over policy. They will continue to co-operate in the general cause. CAUSE OF THE BREACH. London, October 17. Mr. and Mrs. Pethick Lawrence disagreed with Mrs. and Miss Pankhurst on the new militant policy for obtaining votes for women. The Pankhursts will publish The Suffragette under the editorship of Miss Christabel Pankhurst. I LABOR PARTY'S ATTITUDE. London. October 17. The Labor Party declined the request of adherents of the women's suffrage movement to vote against the Franchise Bill, and decided to press women's suffrage. ALBERT HALL DEMONSTRATION. A POLICY oFviOLENCE. Received 18, 9.30 p.m. London. October 18. At the Women's Political Union demonstration in the Albert Hall three hundred women who had suffered imprisonment, attired in white, occupied the platform. Over three thousand subscriptions have been received. Mrs. lankhurst advocated the wholesale destruc tion of property as women's most effective weapon.
