THE HAWERA SHOW.
Readers will see from the advertising columns that the annual Spring Show at Hawera is timed this year for November 20 and 21—a fortnight. later than last ■year and a week after the Wanganui Show. ' The Hawera Show is always looked upon as a notable event in stock breeding circles, and it attracts, visitors from all over the Dominion. Previous shows have demonstrated this fact,_ but this year's fixture promises to eclpise any of its predecssors in regard 'to quality and number of exhibits in the stock sections. Cattle as usual are receiving_ special attention and with the addition of the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' and the New Zealand Ayrshire Breeders' Association's champion gold medals, the classes will be particularly attractive. Trophies are freely distributed in all the sections and the prize list is on the usual generous scale, as will he seen from the schedule. Amongst the numerous specials the Solid Silver Challenge Cup presented by the New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, is a beautiful one. 'This Cup will go to the exhibitor scoring the greatest number of points in the purebred Holstein and Jersey classes. The competition in the various classes should he intensely keen.- The Champion Butter-fat Competition will be of great interest again this year and splendid paddock accommodation will be provided for exhibitors. The milk testing classes open to farmers' sons and daughters. Public and High School students, is of educational value and goo'd entries are again anticipated. Schedules may still be had from the secretary at Hawere or from the local Agricultural Society.
