The Coal Conciliation Board in England has agreed to an increase of wages of 5 per cent. This gives four hundred thousand one shilling weekly, involving a million pounds sterling annually.

THE TRUST AGENCY. London, October 11. The Trust Agency of Australasia has declared an interim dividend of 7'/ 2 per cent.

ALLSOPS LIMITED. London, October 11. Allsops proposed to reduce their capitalisation, including liabilities to creditors from £5,500,000 to £780,000, by the issue of half a million debentures in order to clear prior charges and furnish working capital.

A FOREIGN LOAN. • Received 12, 1.10 a.m. Sydney, October 12.

In view of the. tightness of the English money market, the Government 'has enquired on the Continent, especially in Paris, of the probability of successfully floating a debenture loan. If there is sufficient encouragement to induce it, it will try a foreign loan. In formation was received recently that three millions from foreign sources were available almost immediately. The interest would probably be 4 per cent. Meanwhile the war has begun. It is understood that the Government has received reassurance that the money is still forthcoming.
