taranaki: oil fields, limited.
The Railway Department has made a start with constructing a loop line and siding into the refinery site. The ground has been fenced and the earth work completed preparatory to putting in the foundations for the refinery buildings. On Monday the staff commence with the concrete work.
The first portion of the refinery is in the steamer Kia Ora which will be in Wellington m Monday, and should bo here by the end of the week. Tenders for the election of the necessary sheds for the temporary storing of the plant, etc., bave been accepted, and the work will be put in hand at once . ", Good prog-ess has been made with the. erection of the derrick for the rotarv plant at Moturoa. The plant is due in Auckland on the lfith instant.
Active work is goin.cr on at Bell Block, stores, feul, etc., being now on the ground.
