THE HAWERA SHOW.
Owners of draught horses have come well in the way of classification in the Hawera Show this year. The prizemoney is liberal throughout, and in. addition to the championship prizes for entire and mare a silver challenge cup is offered as a points prize. The quality of draughts shown is always of a very (high standard, but this year's show should easily eclipse its predecessors. A novel class will be the one for four-horse teams, in work, the turn-out to be taken into consideration. In hacks the Association offers a gold medal and ribbon to the champion hack, and the best harness horse will also carry a ribbon. The pony classes are well varied. The ring competitions am always very popular. The open hunting competition on the first day carries .£2O for firstprize money and a challenge cup. The steeplechase event on the second day is allotted £ls as first prize money. The dairy produce classes are well endowed with prizes as usual. The dog schedule has received extra attention, quite a number of new classes having been added. A spacious and well appointed building is provided for dogs, and an expert caretaker is always in at■tendanec.
The home, industries division promises to -establish yet another record. These classes are extremely popular and the prize money is again very liberal. A challenge tropy in cookery, a Burlington proof framed picture in jams and pickles, and a vacuum cleaner (value £4 4s) in fancy work are offered as points prizes. School competitions are well provided for..
Taking into consideration the many inducements held out, it can hardly be doubted that the Association's enterprise this year will be rewarded with record entries.
