By Cable—Press. Association—Copyright. Melbourne, October 10. The maternity bonus operates from Saturday.

TARIFFS AND CABLES. Melbourne, October 10. In the Federal House, Mr. Tudor, Minister of Customs, stated that the tariff question was not likely to be reopened this session. The Minister replied that a motion was submitted to the Imperial Conference, but was turned down owing to the opposition of the Imperial Government. THE GAS BILL. Sydney, October 10. In the Council, during the debate on the Gas Bill, Mr. Flowers admitted that the measure was an attack on capital.
