POLITICAL NOTES.
THE SESSION. STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) Wellington, Last Night.
"All the important Bills before Parliament -will be proceeded with," said the Prime Minister to a Post reporter today. "All the business that the Government thinks it necessary to put through will be put through if there is no obstruction. There ie no reason why we should' not finish before the end of the month. If they obstruct for several days then the session will last that much longer. The Government." he added, "will stand or fall by their policy proposals. The reform of the Legislative Council is one."
RENT OF OFFICES. An interesting return was presented to the Legislative Council, on the motion ol the Hon. J. T. Paul). This showed the rent paid for the year ending 31st March by the Government for the rent of offices in various towns. The details were: aru £lOl, Chmtchureh £O4O, Wellington —lnvereargill £205, Dunedin £l3ll, Tim£os33, Palmerston North £241, Wangamii ££235, Auckland £IOO3, Napier and Nclon nil. The total for the towns named ■was £10757.
STATE ADVANCES. IN THE STRIKE AREA. A return was presented to the House to-day on the motion of Mr. G. Anderson showing the amount of money which has been invested up to the Ist August, 1012, on mortgage under the workers and settlers branches of the State Advances Department in various localities in the Ohinemnri gold fields. The detailed figures are as follows: —

Tliis makes a grand total of £30.800. One advnnee of £2OO was made at Grahamstown by the Public Trustee.
