AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.

LABOR PARTY ELECTIONEERING. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, October 8. Mr. Fisher, referring to the forthcoming referenda, said that the Government wanted more power. It was ridiculous that it should be limited as at the present time. He wanted to be able to see the Commonwealth Arbitration Court in motion as soon as any difficulty arose, no matter whether it was confined to one State or not. The referenda would be purely a party issue. Touching naval defence, he reiterated that he was- convinced that sooner or later New Zealand would come into an Australasian scheme.

Mr. Holman, speaking at Cooma, said that Australia was destined to be governed by workers, and they would govern wisely and well in the interests of the communitv as a whole.
