HOME RULE.
VIEWS OF AUSTRALIA. THE GOVERNMENT UNMOVED. By Oable—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 3. Mr. W. Redmond, speaking at Dungannon, declared that if the people of Australasia had. power to grant Ireland Home Rule they would have it forthwith. Australia had taken Sir Edward Carson's measure, and knew his strength on paper and in the field. Mr. McKenna, speaking at Abergavenny, emphatically denied the rumor that a pledge had been given to the King that the question of Home Rule would be submitted to the people. He added that the Government would fulfil the whole task entrusted to them. The chief fomenters of the agitation in Ireland were skilled lawyers, who would be careful to keep within the lkw. They merely talked hypothetical treason.
THE COVENANT. Received 4, 10.35 p.m. London, October 4. Summonses under an old Act of the Irish Parliament have been issued against several justices as signers of the Ulster Covenant, with a view to testing its legality.
