MILITARY TRAINING.
A PRESBYTERIAN OPINION. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. , Melbourne, October 4. In the Presbyterian General Assembly a motion disapproving of compulsory military training was rejected in favor of a deliverance to the effect that, without committing itself to the principle of compulsory drills, the Assembly recognises the grave responsibilities of the country for adequate defence, but urges the supreme importance of safeguarding the moral welfare of those t,being trained, especially that of youths. It strongly recommends the substitution of early morning and night drills where possible, and full provision for the proper oversight of the moral welfare of cadets.
