DROWNED IN THE DANUBE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 2, 5.10 p.m. London, October 2. A boatful of Roumanian officers was sunk in a collision on the Danube, and nine were drowned.
SOUTH AMERICA'S NAVY. Received 2, 11.45 p.m. Buenos Ayres, October 2. The Government has consented to the annulment of the contract for four destroyers being constructed at Cammel and Laird's yards and the sale of another to an unnamed Power. The Argentine Government is ordering four new destroyers.
THE CAMBOYNE WRECK. Sydney, October 2. The Court found that the foundering of the steamer Comboyne on September 8 was due to default by the mate Daley, who has been cited to show why his certificate should not be suspended.
THE DROUGHT IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Received 2, 9.15 p.m. Sydney, October 2.
The weather remains hot and dry. Rain is badly needed. As an indication of the effect of the late drought the pastoral areas have sent- in 76,222 fewer bales of wool to Sydney during the last few months, compared with the same period last year.
