Two thousand strikers came into violent conflict with the police. Scores of persons were taken to the hospital, and several were fatally wounded. A meeting of protest, Called against the trial of the labor leaders, resulted in the first clash. Thereafter street fighting was continuous. Hundreds of arrests were made. Fifteen thousand additional workers are idle.

FREE LABORERS' ASSOCIATION.

London, September 30. A conference at Bradford established a National Association of Free Workers, with a quarter]}- subscription of sixpence for insurance in the event of accident or molestation during the exercise of the right to work.
