THE MATERNITY BONUS,

The Presbyterian Assembly carried a motion condemning the proposal to give the maternity allowance in the case of illegitimates as dangerous to morals, and tending to ignore the importance • of marriage, with the additional clause, that if the bonus was given to unmarried mothers it should not be given directly, but should be used for their assistance by suitable agencies.
THE MEAGHER BILL.
Received 2, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, October 1. In the Assembly the third reading debate on the Meagher Bill was unfinished owing to the time limit on private members' night.
