The IJanau has been reinsured at a premium of ten guineas. Though bumping badly, she will probably be refloated after discharging her cargo. BRITISH PREFERENCE. Ottawa, September 28. The Conservative press are attacking the manufacturers for their re/usal to consider the grain-growers' challenge for an increase in British preference. The newspapers hold that they should consider it immediately, if only because of the effect it would have politically throughout the country.
A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE. New York, September 28. The estate of the late H. O. Willis, of tobacco fame, has been eworn at £5,214,356.

THE NORTH POLE. Christiana, September 28. After conferring with Captain Nansen and the Government, Captain Amundsen has postponed the expedition of the Fram to th<s North Pole for a year. The Ocoanographer is unable to join the expedition at present, and it is impossible to replace him.
THE HANAU REFLOATED. Received 30, 12.35 a.m. London, September 20. The Hanau has been refloated, apparently undamaged. THE STAR OF NEW ZEALAND. London, September 20. The Star of New Zealand is satisfactorily discharging meat from her forward holds, ami is being patched up. pre paratorv to her being towed to Liver pool.
