Mr. J. Perrott Collin. 8.A., who has been on a visit to New Plymouth, leaves for Hawke's Hay bv this morning's train. ' "

•Mr. Ernest A. Belcher, 8.A., of Lincoln College, Oxford, at preseut assistantmaster and house-tutor at 'Clifton College, Bristol, has been appointed headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch. At the conclusion of the sitting of the Conciliation Council at New Plymouth, in connection with the Taranaki' Plumbdispute, Mr. R. Lamerton, on behalf of the Union, moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Commissioner '(Mr. T. Hark Giles) for the tactful and efficient manner in which he had conducted the proceedings. This was seconded by Mr. W. 11. Griffiths, on behalf of the employers, and supported by Mr. W. N. lowing, who eulogised the Commissioner for the able services rendered by him. Mr. Giles had in a great measure facilitated a complete settlement. Mr Giles returned thanks.

Ma 1 . Edward Trcise Morshead died suddenly about 1 o'clock- oil Saturday afternoon, dropping dead near the intersection of Robe and Powderhnm streets. Deceased was a septuagenarian, and had been under the treatment of Dr. Home for acute heart disease. The late Mr. Morshead, who was the son of Captain Edward Morshead, was born at Calstock, Cornwall in 1840. Eighteen years later he emigrated to New Plymouth in company with his father and family. He joined the service of the Postal Department (it New Plymouth in 1805. and was afterwards located in various towns in the Dominion. He Inst snw service in Wellington, where he retired about ten years ago. Upon his retirement he came to New Plymouth, where he has ever since resided. As one of the original members of the Taranaki Rifle Volunteers, he took part in the Maori War. The deceased gentleman was married to Miss Ellen C. Pan-is, a daughter of tihe late Major Parris, who survives' him with two sons. Mr. H. E. Morshead, of Wanganui. Mr. Leslie Morshead 1 , a civil engineer, of London, and two daughters, Mrs Percy Binndcll. of Wellington, and Miss Morshead, of New Plymouth. Mr. Morshead was passionately devoted to music, and frequently relieved as organist. at St. Mary's Church. He was respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends.' His interment will fake place to-morrow.
