The lire had a strong hold when the Brigade arrived 011 the scene, and by the time it was subdued the building was partially gutted considerable damage being done. Fo»tunately there was 110 wind at the time, otherwise, considering the strong hold it had, it would have been razed to the ground. The house was insured in the South British Company for £450. Mr. Robertson is a heavy loser over the fire, and a movement is on foot, in which the band will participate, to provide an entertainment with a view to recouping some of the losses sustained.
