(C«ducted by ''Eileen.") j NEW PLYMOUTH SOCIAL NEWS j Bridge.—Last Tuesday, Mrs. Lysons gave «i very enjoyable bridge party. The prizes were won by Mrs. Matthews (first) and Mrs. H. Stocker (second). A dainty supper was served in the dining room. Amongst those present were; Mesdames <Carthew (senr.), Matthews, J. Wilson, Courtney, Greatbatch, Stoeker, Newman, Curtis. A. MacDiarmid, Medley, Hirst, W. Bayly, and Misses Hempton, (Ireatbateh and Thomson. Mrs. Harvey entertained a number.of friends at bridge last Friday. A Dance.—A very jolly little dance was held at Oakura last Monday, being got up by Messrs Sumner and Perham, who reside there, and a number of young people from town drove out to join the [ merry throng. Amongst them were: I Mrs. T. Anderson, Misses L. Fitzherbert,: I Kyngdon, Blundell, Brewster and D. Bed- i I ford, Messrs Stowe, Nicholson, McCord, ! I Bain. Bloxam, Grant, Burgess, G. Pott and C. Webster. Pantomime. —Amongst the crowded audiences at "Sinbad the Sailor" at the Theatre Royal on Thursday and Friday nights I noticed: Mrs. D. Eoberston, j Miss Evans, Mrs. Penn, Misses Penn, j Mrs. Quilliam, Mrs. Birch-Johnston, Mrs. i 1 and Miss MacDiarmid, Mrs. H. Thomson (Inglowood), Mrs. Wexstead (Inglewood), Misses Morey, Miss G. Laing, Miss N. Capel, Mrs. A. Kirkby, Mrs. G. Kebbell, Miss M. Clarke (Auckland), Mrs. Colvile, Mrs. E. Walker, Miss Ashdown, Mrs. Home, Miss Wade, Miss Rennell, Misses Knott (2), Mrs. P. Webster, Misses Bedford (2), Mrs. L. Nolan, Mrs. C. Webster, Mrs. Medley, Miss M. Humphries, Miss Brewster, Miss R. Clarke, Mrs. Paul, Misses Mackay (2), Mrs. E. Griffiths, Mrs. Baker, Miss Baker, Mrs. C. Weston, Mrs. Sladden, Mrs. Roy, Misses Roy, Miss Govett, Miss Bradbury, Miss Kirkby, Mrs. E. Gilmour, Mrs. - Williams, Miss Berry, Mrs. H. Mrs. Brewster has gone for a trip to Wellington, where she will be the guest of her sister (Mrs. 0. Samuel). Mrs. H. Thomson and Mrs. Wexstead (Inglewood) have been staying in New Plymouth for a short period, but have now returned home. Mrs. Leatham and the Misses Leatham have gone for a short trip to Auckland. Mrs. and Miss Hanna are the guests of Mrs. G. Proud, Bombay, Auckland. Misses Bewley, Blundelf and Glasgow, who have been visiting Nelson and Wellington, have returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. Colvile, who has been ob a visit to Blenheim, has returned. Mrs. Percy Blundell, who has been the guest of her mother (Mrs. E. Morshead), has returned to Wellington. Miss Lewis, of Gisborne, is visiting her sister (Mrs. Murray).
