EMPLOYERS' PROTEST. By Cable—Press A»gociatio*— Copyrigkt. Sydney, September 20. At the Inter-State conference of the Associated Employers, the presidential address attacked recent industrial legislation, and the attacks on State rights. It expressed the hope that the Premiers ■would give no further industrial powers than those already possessed by the Commonwealth. A'warning was uttered that the present position was due to extraordinary Governmental expenditure. ■Resolutions were adopted against legislative interference with private enterprise, against the day labor system for public works, and preference to unionists.

TRADE UNION INSURANCE. Received 2(5, 11.10 p.m. London, September 2G. Mr. ippleton, secretary of the Federation, of Trade Unions, states that the unions are establishing a life insurance fund, owing to the activity of the insurance trust in connection with national insurance. Unless they did so it would be impossible for the unions to exist for a decade as approved societies.

STRIKE AT BARCELONA. Madrid, September 20. Six thousand railway employees at Barcelona are striking. The 'Government is taking energetic measures to preserve order.
