SHOCKING FATALITY

THREE CHILDREN DROWNED. By T»l«grapb Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A sad accident occurred at Paeroa yesterday, three children of Mr. Edward Shaw being drowned. It appears that four children—Mary Shaw aged 14 years, Kenneth Shaw 12 years, Jack Shaw 7 years, and Fort Moresby 14 years, were out on the river in a small boat with a sail up when the wind caught the sail and overturned the boat. A Maori boy saw the accident and told Shaw, who was quickly at the scene and rescued Moresby, who was hanging on to the bottom of the boat. The other three children went down, and up till the time of writing only one body had been recovered. A large party under a constable are at present engaged in dragging the river.
