A TRAP FATALITY. By Telegraph—Own Correspondent. Dunedin, Last Night. ■Samuel Stevens, aged 75, died as the result of injuries received by the upsetting of a spring cart at Sutton Hill, near Middlemarcb. At the inquest, a verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence, that death was due to shock and injury to the lung. RUN OVER BY A WAGGON. . Gisborne, Last Night. In the vicinity of the Matawhero saleyards yesterday an accident occurred that terminated fatally. A man named Samuel Torr, aged 55, a bullock-driver for Mr. J. Clark, was driving a team of bullocks along the road on his way to To Arai, and when passing the Matawhero saleyards the unfortunate man, who was sitting on the shaft, jumped off the waggon, presumably to turn his bullocks to the side of the road, lie slipped and fell under the front wheel, and both wheels passed over his body, completely fracturing his thighs. He was removed to the public hospital this morning, where he died. Deceased informed the doctor that it was purely an accident, and nobody was to blame. A MOTOR-CAR COLLISION. Palmcrston North, Last Night. A man named Pearson, while carrying a can of milk to a church celebration at Waitnna, at 0.30 to-night, on his bicycle, was run into by a motor-car owned by F.. Short, and driven by his chauffeur. It is stated that in neither case were there lights. Pearson was badly injured. lie was brought to Palmerston Hospital, and his recovery is doubtful. SUPPOSED SUICIDE. Cliristchurch, Last Night. Tracy Percy Pengreaven Wills, 35 years of age, died suddenly about 4 p.m. to-day, under somewhat tragic circumstances. He was in a cycle shop, and appeared to be in a perfectly normal state of health, when lie asked for and was given a glass of water. A few minutes afterwards he collapsed, and medical assistance being got he was declared to be suffering from the effects of strong acid poison, and a small bottle found on his person led to a strong presumption of suicide. It is understood that he has been worried over financial matters during the past few weeks. lie leaves a wife and two children.
