Received 19. 12.55 a.m. Sydney, September 19. An amending Early Closing Bill has keen introduced in the Assembly. It does not provide that butcher- may remain open late on .one night weeklv as at present. Mr. Griffiths, heckled regarding tight money, declared that he did not contemplate a cessation of the pre-ent public works, but they would have to be very rareful of new ones till the monev market eased. Mr. Wood moved the adjournment to discuss the Government's failure to make provision for the hou=ins of the Governor-General. He said thatT the Government was lessening the prestige of the State in the eyes of the world. Mr. Beeby replie'd that the Government was only following the lead of the Carruthers Government. An animated debate followed, and a closure motion was negatived.
