IN COMMITTEE. By Telegraph—Own Correspondent. Wellington, Last Night. At the outset of the Committee proceedings mepibers of the Opposition began to fight hard for the old system, under which there lias been, so much political patronage. Mr. Witty said that he 'had that evening received telegrams from branches of the Postal Department objecting to being included in the Bill. Mr. Herdman: Have you got those telegrams. Mr. Witty: Yes, I have them here. Mr. Herdman: Put them on the table. Mr. Witty: No, I won't, because individual names are mentioned.
