THE TIBETAN QUESTION. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 18, 5.5 p.m. Pekin, September 17. The Acting Premier has announced that the Dalai Lama will be permitted to resume his former functions. The Government has ordered a Chinese expedition to quit Tibet. THE MONGOLIAN QUESTION. THE FATE OF TIBET. Received 19, 12.30 a.m. Pekin, September 18. At a secret meeting of the Assembly tbe Acting-Premier staled that it was useless to settle the Mongolian question by force. China's best policy was to rely on her treaties. Referring to Tibet he emphasised that China did not intend to alter Tibet's administrative system. A Chinese commissioner will shortly visit Lhassa to explain the Republican principles. The Assembly resolved to support the Government in any reasonable loan scheme.
