TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Taranaki County Council was held yesterday, the chairman (Mr. J. Brown) presiding. Members present were: Crs. J. R. Hill, G. V. Tate, R. Stevens, M. Hopson, C. Billing and C. Andrews. METAL REQUIREMENTS. Metal requirements were discussed,! and eventually the following allocations were made for 'the year 1912-13:—Moa riding, 5453 yards; Waitara riding, main roads 2715 yards and ordinary county roads 21SG yards; Omata riding, 1170 yards; Okato riding, main road 5000 yards and 2000 yards on the ordinary county roads: ITurworth riding, 700 yards. APPOINTMENTS. Mr. T. Bowler, of Inglewood, was appointed driver of the steam road roller, Mr. A. Mall on foreman in the Mangorci riding, and Mr. G. Meredith foreman over the late Onloira rond district roads. The chairman and Cr. McAllum were appointed to give evidence before the Arbitration Court in connection with the claims of the General Laborers' Union. It was decided to leave the sale, of the concrete mixer and engine in the hands of the chairman, with power to act. A motion was carried dispensing with the services of three foremen. At the instance of Cr. Hill, the chairman was asked to report on the eosf of metalling about 30 chains on the Waiwakaiho road.
