BOXIB-DROPPING CONTESTS. By Cable—Press Association— Copvricht. London, September If!. Fifteen thousand persons witnessed a bomb-dropping contest at Hendon. Travers was the winner, successfully dropping projectiles from a height of a hundred feet within 26 feet of a mark. S. Pickles, an Australian, was second, dropping his projectiles within 39 feet. Pickles won the altitude contest at 2850 feet. AIRSHIPS AT THE MANOEUVRES. Received 17, 10.15 p.m. London, .September 17. Aeroplanes quickly placed the commanders of both the red and blue forces in possession of the disposition of each others forces, but the blues lost two aeroplanes, which were dataaged, while two others were captured by the reds' cavalry while descending for minor repairs. AN AVIATOR INJURED. Received 17, 10.15 p.m. Washington, September 17. While twenty aviators were circling at Chicago one named Carlstrum fell a hundred feet and was seriously injured.
