The Government candidate, Mr C. A. Wilkinson, visited Omoana on Saturlay and addressed a representative fathering at Messrs Johnston and Reader's homestead. On the motion of Hessrs J. Iteid and €. Sproull a hearty. r ote of thanks to the candidate for his iddress and of confidence in the Reform 'arty was carried. Later in the evening there was a good ttendance at the Mangamingi Hail and he candidate's address seemed to meet nth full approval. When introducing he candidate, Mr Granville (chairman) emarked that lie firet met Mr Wilkinon twenty years ago, and since that ;ime had always found him punctual, atentive and faithful to anything he took n hand, and instanced particularly Mr Viikinson's service on the Harbor Board. )n the motion of Messrs A. Boddie and t. S. Brown, a hearty vote of thanks vas given Mr Wilkinson for his address. -(Contributed). PREVIOUS ELECTIONS. Mr Astbury went to the poll s an Independent Liberal and Mr Wil:inson as an Independent Oppositionist, 'rior to the last election in December ist the boundaries of 'the district were nlarged by the inclusion of Manaia. (kaiawa, etc., and as a result over 1000 dditional votes were polled. • It is not xpected that the polling will be so eavy to-day, as there has been a good eal of. movement of population in the )istrict; also,, ow;ing to the shortness of ime, a number are not enrolled.
