THE REEFTON DISPUTE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Reefton, Monday. At a special general meeting of the Inangahua Miners' Union held yesterday, 140 were present. The executive reported that no further developments were expected until the Arbitration Court considered the appointment of an arbitrator on the 27th inst. It was decided to make a vigorous protest against the Government's proposal to construct public works in the Dominion on the contract system, and strongly to urge the continuance of the co-operative system. THE TAILORS' DISPUTE. Gisborne. Last Night. The Conciliation Commission, Mr. T. Harle Giles, fixed the tailors' agreement to-day, mainly on the basis of tlie Auckland award. Tlie demands are agreed to almost in toto. The same applies to tlie dispute regarding the chart measurement system. The drapers and clothiers applied for an exemption on the question of bringing in the chart system, and the union strenuously opposed tlie application. The application was not .entertained, being referred to the Arbitration Court.
