THE OLYMPIC GAMES.
THE AUSTRALIAN ATHLETES. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Sydney. September 14. Several athletes who took part in the Olympic games have returned. Waley, coxswain of the Olympic eight, attributes the Australians' defeat at Stockholm to the unfair course. Had it been straight, the Australians would have won by a length, notwithstanding that the crew had not quite the same dash as at Henley. In a race of such importance there should be no advantage to either crew. Hill, the long-distance champion, considers it necessary that athletes sent to future games should have at least three months in the country visited. He is confident that, if an English team of amateur athletes visited Australia or New Zealand, they would suffer defeat.
