' S amcs w «'e lost, but St. Johns Club visited New Plymouth at Laster when the result was reversed. A notable event of the year was the visit of a team from the Auckland. Bowling Club. One match was won by ISevv Plymouth, the second being quite foiled by rain preventing the game bein* finished. At a meeting of the two clubs after the second match, it was unanimously decided to purchase, by subscription, > a cup, and play an annual match between the two clubs for the possession of this tiophy. The Taranaki Bowling Association Tournament was held on the Patea and Waverley greens, and was won by the Opuna-ke Club, whilst the wanner competition was won by the Hawera Club. The club champion-shin W as won by Mr. A. K. Smart, the Pairs Handicap b y Messrs. 11. Smart and the Singles Handicap by Mr. A. Binnie, and the special .prizes presented bv Messrs. S. Handle and W. F. Brooking and Smart and Renaud. PRESIDENT'S REMARKS. In moving the adoption of the repor' and balance-sheet, the pz'esidcnt ;■> tnat, anticipating the receipts for ensuing season would be the *ame - the year under review, the club should be able to wipe out its deficits and a ci edit balance carried forward. He \\OTild like to see the balance augmented in tho future, as before long a fair amount would be required to be expended on a concrete wall and fence i„ o>rougham street. The membership now totalled 03 active, three honorary and one life member. In future, the balancesheet would include a statement of assets and liabilities. The sections and buildings should be valued. Their value was, he considered, at least in the vicinity of fiixo. The liabilities were:. Debentures £-2S(J, mortgage £3OO, bank overdraft ft;.). a total of £IU). This showed the club to bo in :i strong finaii--01 position. Xow the club's property was m its own name, it was the intention of Mr. Govett to move in the direction ot incorporating the dub under the provisions of the Unclassified .Societies' Kegistration Act. A matter which would; interest the three local clubs was tho decision of the Taranaki Bowline Association to hold its next tournament at New Plymouth. This year the tournament was to be open, and there would be no limit, as before, of two rinks to a club. It was anticipated that thirty ; rinks would nominate, and with fine' weather the tournament should be a success. The three greens would be available for play, if necessary, and the visitors would be comfortably accommodated. He trusted that every member of the club would endeavor to assist the committee in _ entertaining tho visitors, so that the tournament would be a complete success, full of enjoyment to all the players, so that the provincial tournaments should always he held at New Plymouth for the future. The president announced that he would ipresejit to thelaranaki Bowling Association, in the near future, a trophy to .be plaved for in conjunction with the .Shield Tournament. Messrs. Jas. Monro and Son's representative had written to his firm, asking- them to present a trophy to the Association, also a prize to the club, and he stated that there was little doubt that both would be donated. Concluding Mr. Goldwater said that he had had the liberal support of the committee during his presidency, and was ably assisted by the hon. secretary (Mr. Ewing), who had worked and grudged no time in the interests of the club, and he trusted that his successor would have as enjoyable a. year as he had gone through, and that the future of tho club would be one of good-fellowship, pleasure and prosperity. The motion was carried unanimously. OFFICERS ELECTED. _ Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr. A. Goldwater; vice-presidents Messrs. W. J. Penn and J. S. S, Medley' 1 ecretary and treasurer, Mr. W. N. Ewing; committee, Messrs. A. K. Smart ,T C. Moroy, p. W. Hall, C. W. Govett,' A* ('. 11. Collins, W. F. Brooking; auditor Mr. C. T. Mills. The secretary was voted an honorarium of £ls 15s, and the caretaker a bonus of £5. *1 > Colonel Collins was elected delegate' of the Club to the Northern Bowline Association, and Mr. A. K. Smart '"to the l aranaki Association# t A proposal by Mr. Ewing to change, the date ot the annual meeting from September to June was lost after a closedivision. On the motion of 'the president, a veryhearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. C. \V. Govett for his untiring ener"v in connection with the completion of' the', purehase of the dub's section. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded" he especially Miss Goldwater. foi their kindness during the year. Members expressed their gratitude for the work nf the warden (Mr. A. ,K. Smart), who expressed the opinion that this season tin- greens would show considerable improvement. ..Messrs. Brooking and RunHe were thanked for donating a trophy. Mr. Govett proposed, and' Mr. Bioolcng seconded, that the club be registered ni.ler the Incorporated Societies Act.
