THE LAMBING-DOWN.

To the Editor. Sir,—On reading the particulars of the above sickening case, I do trust that the police will be able to sheet it 'home to the lamber, as the lanibee's memory is so defective that he can't say where he melted his cheque in the first instance. The writer of these lines has witnessed a, few such cases as depicted by some of the witnesses in the above case in the old days of "chain lightning" shanties. Drunkards in the process of being lambed down were in evidence in every room, and, at the meal table also, to.the disgust and annoyance of respectable travellers. How the liquor traffic has been allowed to survive to this enlightened day is a mystery to FACTS.
