DANNEVIRKE RACING CLUB. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dannevirke, Last Night. The Dannevirke Racing Club's steeplechase meeting was held to-day at Tamaki in fine but dull weather. There was a large attendance. The totalisator investments amounted to £8728 for eight races, against £,5833 for seven events at the corresponding meeting last year. Though the fields were large there were only two serious accidents. In the Hacks and Hunters' Steeple several horses fell. Julian, the rider of Longboat, had his collarbone broken, and the horse broke his back. In the same race Gondolier fell, W. Adams sustaining a broken leg and collarbone. The following are the details of the racing:— Handicap Hack Hurdles, of 75 eovs.; one mile and a half.—2 Bravest, 10.5, 1; 15 Master Stead, 9.2, 2; 7 Strategist, 9.11, 3. 3 Golden Loop 10.3, 4 Seacombe 9.12, 1 Strathmoira 9.12, G Fionacre 9.0, and 8 Farronite 9.0, also started. Won easily by a length. Time, 3min. 4sec. Umutaoroa Hack Handicap, of 75 sows.; seven furlongs.—2 Sampson, 7.6, 1; 4 Manakau, 7.0, 2; 9 King's Favorite, 7.10, 3. 1 Diavolo 9.10, 10 Waikehua 8.5, 7 Stellaris 8.2, 5 Queen of Scots 7.12, 3 .Ngaku 7.11. 11 Potluek 7.9, 13 Kingswell 7.3, 4 Manakau 7.0, 8 Elevator 7.0, and 0 Black Lupin 7.0, also started. Stellaris and Ngakau fell at the home bend. Won by two lengths, with one length between second and third. Time, lmin. 37see.
Spring Handicap (open), of 85 soys.; one mile and a quarter.—4 Otahu, 7.11, 1; 3 Cork, 7.13, 2; 2 Brown Trout, 8.6, 3. 9 Ariora 9.6, 6 Kilosteri 8.11, 5 Routine 8.7, 7 Uhlando 7.10, 8 Elfish 7.9, and 1 Blend 7.9, also started. A great finish, Otahu winning by a head, with tbjo third horse close up. Time, 2min. 24sec. Dannevirke Steeplechase, of 150 sovs.; two miles and a half.—s Don Carlos, 9.7, 1; I Glenmore, 11.13, 2; 2 Morihiko, 10.10, 3. 3 Tyrannic 11.2, 4 Puketotara 9.8, and 6 Highden 9.7, also started. The second time round Highden lost his rider, and Tyrannic and Puketotara fell. Don Carlos was in command the last time round, and won by twenty lengths, with a similar distance between second and third. Time, smin. 24sec.
Trial Stakes, of 05 sovs.; five furlongs (weight 95t.).—5 Runaway Girl, 1; 2 Moonbria, 2; 1 Panthea, 3. 7 Hautu, 16 Facsimile, 12 Divinia, 14 St. Elm, 3 Sir Daniel, 4 Lambton, 9 Ele«tor, 3 Paptimarama, 18 Te Whan, 10 Artificial, 15 Apoplectic, 16 Ranfurly, 13 Top Note, 17 Marama, 7 Bonnie Polly, 10 Mysteriach, 19 Grassmere, C Kirkby, and 11 The Diver. The winner 'was in front all the way, and won by a head. Time, lmin. Bsec.
Hack Hunters' Steeplechase, of 75 sovs.; two miles.—3 Wlieturangi, 11.5, 1; 1 Kelp, 11.5, 2; 11 The Ranter, 9.13, 3. 4 Bonnie Jean 10.11, G Pukeroa 10.7. 5 Waipureka 10.7, 2 Longboat 10.4, 8 Pa.paraliei 10.3, 9 Gondolier 10.0,' 1,5 Major 'Webb 9.11, 16 Rames and the' Colonel (bracketed) 9.7, 12 Hero 9.9, 15 Sagamore 9.9, 7 Harata 9.9, 13 Corroboree 9.7, and 14 Stockman 9.7, also started. Longboat fell when leading, and broke his back, and Gondolier also fell early. Bonnie Jean, Waipureka and Sagamore fell at the sod wall the second Hime round. Harata Tan off and: Pukeroa' was pulled up. Wlieturangi won easily. Time, 4min. 15sec. Otanga Handicap, of 80 sots.; one mile.—3 Lord Renown, 8.2, 1; 2 Royal Marine, 7.12, 2; 7 Elevator, 6.7, 3. 0 Routine 8.6, 1 Coolbeggan 7.13, 4 Seatondale 7.12, 5 Muleteer 7.4, 8 Montreal 6.12, and 7 Elevator 6.7, also started. The winner came through in the straight and won comfortably by two lengths with a length between second and third. Time, lmin. 53 l-ssec.
Hack Welter, of 75 sovs.; seven furlongs.—3 Kina, S.lO, 1; 15 Moondine, 7.7, 2; 1 Queen of Scots, 8.9, 3. 2 Manitau 8.11, 5 Easy 8.5, 7 Lord Kilcheran 8.4, Sampan 5.3. 6 St. Helena 7.9, S Royal Maid 7.7, 11 Grassmere 7.7, 11 Crown Battery 7.7, 10 Trieze 7.7, 12 Resonant 7.7, 9 Hautu 7.7, and 5 Moondine 7.7, also started. Won by a length, with half a length between second and third. Time, lmin. 37 2-ssec.
