At the meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science Sir Edwin Lankester said there was nothing new in Professor Schaeffer's vision, which was thirty or forty years old, and was all contained in Huxley's and his own writings. Mr. Alfred Russell Wallace was goodhumoredly scornful of, Professor Schaeffer's arguments, which were those of Haeckel, and contained nothing that could be called new. Sir William White, naval architect, has been cliosen President-elect of the British Association for the next meeting, which is to be held in Birmingham.
