THE SUFFRAGETTES.
INSANE VANDALISM. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. London. September 8. There is much indignation against the suffragettes, on account of the memorial fountain on the roadside between Ballater and IJraemar having been daubed with paint. Indignation with Ministers is supposed to be responsible for the present action. Several suffragettes recently visited Aberdeen intent on heckling Mr. Churchill. They intended to mob the Prime Minister at Crathie Church to-day. but Mr. Asquith had left Balmoral. Many local and Scotland Yard police surrounded Balmoral. It is presumed that the women hid in the shrubberies till night. The suffragettes, evading the police guards in the grounds of Balmoral Castle, removed the flags from tl\e poles on the golf course and substituted others bearing inscriptions against forcible feeding. They painted over the inscription on the memorial fountain.
