EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. "A TEMPORARY TRUCE"—A.B. 00. The Empire Pictures management announced a still greater startling A.B. attraction than "A Beast at Bay" to be shown for the first time last night, and "A Temporary Truce" certainly filled the bill to perfection. An intensely thrilling drama, portrayed all the exciting incidents of a miners' encounter with a body of revengeful Indians. The combat between two men, a girl and th« Redskins is one of the "thrillers" of the picture world. Miss Daphne Wayne, m the leading part, still further adds to her popularity as one of the world's most beautiful "picture favorites." The story concerns Mexican Jim, who, under the influence of drink, quarrels with a young prospector, Jack Hardy. Jim is badly bested and becomes the laughing stock of the town. Smarting ior revenge, he carries off Jack's wife, leaving a note to say that the joke is turned. The Mexican has reached as far as an old deserted well-box in the hills, when Jack, who started after them, comes up and opens fire. Jim has the advantage of the shelter of the well-box, also the fact that Jack is careful for fear of hitting his wife. A sensational point is reached when a band of savage Indians on the "war-path" come into view. Tlug is where the "temporary truee" conies in force. Jack and Jim combine to light the common enemy, and for sensation this fight would be hard to beat. Tha miners come to the rescue in the nick of time, Mexican Jim's wife takes a hand in the game, and the finish of the story is quite unique. The management will run this great attraction until further notice. j ;
