THE EGMONT SEAT.
MR. WILKINSON'S CAMPAIGN. At W area on Friday afternoon Mr. J. Burgess presided over a fairly good attendance. Mr. Wilkinson's address was followed by his replying to a number of questions. On the motion of Messrs. 11. Corbett and W. Revell, a hearty of thanks was tendered to Mr. Wilkinson. A strong committee was then formed, Mr. J. Simpson being elected secretary, and Mr. J. Burgess chairman. The same evening, at Pungarehu, another successful meeting was held, over which Mr. W. Harrison presided. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the candidate, the mover and seconder 'being Messrs. G. Goodwin and E.'Symonds. The usual strong committee was formed. Mr. Harold Symonds was appointed] secretary, and Mr. G. Goodwin chairman. On Saturday afternoon about twentyfive electors attended at Mangaihume School. Mr. H. Burkett presided. After a bright political address and answering of questions, a unanimous heartv vote of thanks and confidence was given Mr. Wilkinson, on the motion of Messrs. Burkett and Tynan. Several member* were added to the committee, bringing the total to 17. Mr. A. Tynan was elected secretary. In the evening, at To TCiri, abont fifty attended to hear Mr/ Wilkinson's political views, which were expressed in logical and concise terms. A considerable number of questions were satisfactorily dealt with, and a heaTty vote of thanks was tendered to the candidate, on the motion -of Messrs. Holder and Oane. The committee was enlarged to twpntv, of whom Mr. F. Tindle was appointed secretary and Mr. McGechie chairman. At every meetin held a good deal of enthusiasm has been shown, great interest being taken in Mr. Wilkinson's candidature. The week spent in the Opunake district, although the electioneering was carried on under rather unfavorable weather conditions, indicated that the Reform candidate ihas hearty support in that locality. Being a Taranaki boy, and formerly a resident at Pungarehu, he was warmly welcomed, both' as an old friend and a politician. (Contributed.) . A circular has been issued on behalf of Mr. C. A. Wilkinson's candidature for the Figmont seat, in which support is solicited for liim on the grounds "thai he was instrumental in removing the Now Plymouth Harbor Board rate." Mr. Wilkinson advertises in our columns that he is not responsible for the issue of the circular, and has never made any such claim.
